Overworld

Privacy policy

Effective date: 30 October 2026 · Last updated: 31 October 2026

This policy explains what data the Overworld Android app (package com.rajaryan.overworld) and this website (go.tandevs.com) use, why, and who receives it. "We" and "us" means the Overworld developer. In short: we have no user accounts, we do not keep your location on our servers, and we never sell your data.

1. Your location

With your permission, the app uses your device's location (GPS) to show where you are on the map, to follow you while driving and to give turn-by-turn directions. Location is processed on your device. We do not upload, store or track your location on our servers. While you drive with the map open, the app keeps a short rolling recording of the map screen and of your recent track (about the last 60 seconds) on the device so you can make a clip; it is discarded unless you save a clip, and saved clips and cards go only to your own gallery or wherever you choose to share them. For XP and levels the app also keeps, only on your device, a list of the map areas (squares of about 600 m) you have driven through; it is never uploaded, and you can delete it at any time in Settings → "Clear explored areas". You can withdraw the permission at any time in Android settings; the map still works without it.

2. Search and routes (Geoapify)

When you search for a place, the text you type (and the current map area, to rank nearby results) is sent to Geoapify to find matching places. When you ask for a route, the start point, destination and any stops are sent to Geoapify to calculate it. Geoapify processes these requests to return results; see the Geoapify privacy policy. To show the name of the street you are on, the app also sends your current position to Geoapify from time to time (about every 150 m or after a turn, never in the background), without any name, account or identifier. We do not receive or store your searches, routes or positions.

3. Map tiles and themes (our CDN)

Map tiles, map themes and their images are downloaded from our server tiles.tandevs.com, which runs on Cloudflare. Like any website, these requests include your IP address and the map area being loaded, and Cloudflare keeps standard request logs and aggregate statistics for security and operations (see the Cloudflare privacy policy). We only look at aggregate numbers (for example requests per day) and do not use them to identify or track you. Downloaded tiles are cached on your device.

4. Clips, drive cards and shared links

Clips (short map videos) and drive cards are created on your device. They are only shared when you choose to share them, through the app you pick (for example WhatsApp or TikTok); that app's own privacy policy then applies. When you share a place, the link contains that place's coordinates, the name you see and the theme; a "Meet me here" link also contains your current position, the navigation voice you use and, if you set one in Settings, your name. Anyone with the link can see the place, so share it only with people you want to. A theme gift link contains the theme, an expiry date and a random code, nothing about you. Opening a shared link on this website loads the map from tiles.tandevs.com as described above; this website uses no cookies and no analytics.

Install attribution: the "Get it on Google Play" links and QR codes on clips, drive cards and this website carry a source tag (for example utm_source=clip). After installing, the app reads this tag once through Google Play's Install Referrer service, to count which kind of share brought the install. It contains no personal data and is not linked to you.

5. Analytics and crash reports (Google Firebase)

To learn which features are used and to fix crashes, the app can send data to Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. Analytics receives product events such as "theme selected", "clip created", "clip shared" (and to which kind of app), "paywall viewed", "purchase completed", "trial started" or "navigation arrived" (with the distance rounded to 0.1 km), together with an app-instance identifier, device model, Android version, app version, language and approximate country (derived by Google from the IP address). The events never contain your position, routes, search text, place names or your name. Crashlytics receives crash and error reports (stack trace, device model, Android version, app version, an installation identifier), including a few non-fatal errors such as a failed map, route or search request; these reports do not contain your position or what you searched for. Firebase is switched on only in app versions that include its configuration; until then events are only written to the device log and nothing is sent. Google processes this data as described in the Firebase privacy information; it is kept for the periods described there.

6. Ads (Google AdMob) and your consent

Ads are optional and limited: you can choose to watch a rewarded ad to unlock a premium theme for 24 hours (at most two a day), and free users may see one full-screen ad after saving a clip, at most once a day, never while moving or navigating and never before the first completed drive. People who bought the Founder pack never see ads. Ads come from Google AdMob, which may use your device's advertising ID, IP address, device information and how you interact with the ad to show, measure and limit ads and to prevent fraud. If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, the app first asks for your consent with Google's consent tool (User Messaging Platform) before any ad is requested; you can change your choice at any time in Settings → "Ad privacy choices". You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.

7. Purchases (Google Play Billing)

Premium themes ($2.99 each) and the Founder pack ($14.99) are one-time purchases through Google Play Billing; there are no subscriptions. Google handles the payment; we never see your card or payment details. The app receives from Google Play which products your Google account bought, when, and a purchase token; it keeps this list on your device so purchases work offline, and checks it with Google Play again (for example after a refund). "Restore purchases" in Settings reloads it. See the Google privacy policy. Free trial drives and theme passes are tracked only on your device. Theme gift links carry only the theme, an expiry time and a random code, checked on the receiving device. If the app asks you to rate it, that is Google Play's own rating dialog; we do not see whether or how you rated.

8. What we do not do

  • No account or sign-in is needed, and we keep no user profiles.
  • We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data.
  • We never reward you for ratings or reviews.
  • We do not store your location, searches or routes on our servers.

9. Children

Overworld is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the app, contact us and we will help remove it.

10. Data retention, security and your rights

Data on your device (settings, cached tiles, saved clips) stays until you delete it or uninstall the app. Data held by the services above is kept according to their policies. All network traffic uses HTTPS. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or India's DPDP Act) you may have the right to access, correct or delete your data and to withdraw consent; because we hold no account data, most requests are handled by the settings above or by the providers listed. Write to us and we will help.

11. Map data

Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License. Map tiles built with Protomaps.

12. Changes and contact

If this policy changes, we will update the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app. Questions or requests: rajaryan.space@gmail.com.
